The amber stone is not a stone actually – a misconception by most people. What is usually referred to as gemstone that has a warm glow about it is really a fossilized resin. It was discovered in ancient evergreen trees that are estimated to be about 320 million years old. There are amber stones much younger at approximately 100,000 years old.

This tone comes in a variety of popular warm such as orange, sunny browns, and a variety of yellows. It is the array of colors that the amber stone is often referenced as the stone of the sun. High-quality amber stones are found mainly in Northern Europe’s Baltic countries. It is also found in the Dominican Republic in a blue amber. Other areas where amber is plentiful is Britain, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Russia.
